Hello, we are I can Home Tuition. We have just finished designing our website and are thrilled to be going live today!!!
Experienced and Passionate Primary Teacher.
I am a fully qualified primary teacher with a passion to ensure all children love learning and succeed in their studies. I have worked as a class teacher with all primary age groups (3 – 11 years) and a deputy head of a London, inner-city school where I won an Evening Standard award for achieving London’s highest year 6 SATs results. I was also a deputy of a specialist Literacy and Numeracy support team in London. Since moving to Southsea, I have been a Reading Recovery teacher, SENCo and home tutor at Harbour Medical School and Home Tuition Service. a vast amount of experience working in primary/SEN school settings across all key stages. I plan well thought out lessons to suit the needs and abilities of each individual student.
I have a wide experience of working with children with a variety of specific needs, including autism, Asperger’s, speech and language delay, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and a range of medical needs. I can help students aged 3-11 years with all subjects. I am also able to work with secondary pupils on maths and English Functional skills papers, English Literature and Language GCSE and Maths foundation stage GCSE, as this was part of my work whilst at Harbour School over the last 10 years.
I set up personalised learning programmes after a free initial assessment and meeting with a student and parent or guardian. My learning programmes are tailored to the individual’s learning style and their interests.
I have a very good understanding of how children acquire maths skills. My Reading Recovery Qualification has given me a detailed understanding of early reading and writing skills, including phonics, spelling, punctuation, grammar and how to teach writing for different purposes and audiences.
As a teacher I’m friendly, good-humoured and positive as this helps to develop self-esteem and confidence in students.
